He is a Master of Science in business from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration (NHH). Hansen has held several distinguished positions in a long business career, such as CFO and acting CEO of Statoil, and as CEO of Aker Kværner. Hansen currently chairs the boards of Avinor, Bertel O. Steen AS, Norsun AS, Gjensidige Forsikring BA, Hotell og Restauranthuset Continental and Leonhard Nilsen & Sønner AS, and is a board member in Jiffy International AS, Master Marine AS, Sissener AS and Norwind AS.
